Over spring break, our family got involved with e-rescue Houston, an animal rescue organization that saves dogs and cats from kill shelters and places them in adoptive or foster homes. Although I originally signed up to help with grant-writing and marketing efforts, I saw an adorable Doxie/Chihuahua mix on PetFinder.com.

When I called the Galveston County Animal Shelter to arrange to adopt her, I was told a rescue organization had already intervened to help her. Luckily I was persistent enough to find out which organization, and was delighted to find out it was e-rescue Houston. Twenty-six emails later, the adoption paperwork was processed and I was approved to pick up Pixie from the shelter.
