Already Gone has new site

Holy cow! Don’t you love it when life just runs you over? I’ve been working for the past week on a site for Already Gone, and it’s finally “done.” There are a few quirks that need to be worked out, but they’re not show-stoppers.

I spent most of the week dealing with CSS issues, specifically Internet Explorer’s lack of standards support for CSS. Every time I turned around that damned browser was blowing up for something, especially with opacity issues. (And they wonder why it’s called Internet Exploder?) Finally, I “solved” the problem by using pseudo-opacity – a background image that just looks like it’s opaque. (For you nerdy types that are actually interested in the details, I managed to isolate the cause of the blowup to using the alpha filter with child elements that had a relative position. I spent two days trying different solutions, but never could come up with anything that worked.)

Anyway, it’s up and running. The site has a Joomla backend, and integrates a heavily customized Gallery2 for the photos. Now all you photo buffs can choose to have those photos of you dancing nude on the bar by either PhotoWorks or Shutterfly.

Speaking of photos, I’d better get back to work on the last batch of photos I took – Abbey Rode, Already Gone, and Back for More at FBI. I’m way behind!
