Nearly forty-eight hours after Rita made landfall, our cable went out last night. For my household, that meant more than just no television. It also meant no phone service and, most importantly, no Internet.

One last news update before I’m off to bed.

We briefly lost power twice during the morning, but that was about the extent of our discomfort. That, and Jay not being able to find a Wendy’s hamburger.

Rita brought us a spectacular sunset to precede the rain and winds.
